Me

I am a baking, cooking, gardening and foraging fiend, proudly living in Lancashire. I have had a life long interest in good food and one of my earliest recollections is standing on a stool at my Nanna's kitchen and learning to rub in pastry.

I have a huge collection of cookery and food books and read avidly around the subject and also enjoy visiting food fairs, festivals and demonstrations. Eating out is another passion.

Here are the high points of my foody career so far:-
  • Food writer for Ribble Valley and Fylde Coast Live magazine.
  • Featured on "Black Pudding" episode of Paul Hollywoods "Pies and Puds" TV programme, November 2013.
  • Being invited to create 20 new Lancashire recipes for a book published in 2013, this was published by Bradwell Books - Lancashire Recipes by Linzi Barrow
  • 2nd prize  in a "Green and Blacks" chocolate baking competition from Country Living Magazine and the recipe being featured in their book.
  • Featuring on local radio stations - BBC Radio Lancashire on several occasions and also on Radio Preston.I now have a regular monthly slot on BBC Radio Lancashire.
  • Appearing on a local television programme on a "fungal forage".
  • Undertaking recipe development for several promotional campaigns and some great producers.
  • Proud member of the clandestine cake club movement.
  • One of my recipes being featured in the Clandestine Cake Club Cookbook.
  • Creating a iconic building of Preston in cake, as part of Preston Cake City to celebrate the Guild 2012
  • Featured on the Visit Lancashire website as a local food blogger and also in their Visit Lancashire yearbook for 2013
  • Appearing in the WI Life Magazine March 2013
  • Food writer for online Modern Vintage Magazine
  • Recipe selected by The Groovy Food Company as part of their campaign to raise awareness of Agave nectar.
  • Assisting Slow Food UK in Forgotten Foods campaign - Goosnargh Cake.
  • Many many other articles and blog posts.
I do write reviews and sponsored posts, if I feel they are right for Lancashire Food and the blog, Above all though I want to be true to Lancashire Food.

Reviews will be my honest opinions based on samples provided for me to test and work with or to develop recipes.

I am happy to include appropriate links to relevant sites or other information in my post for the benefit of my readers and include photographs, either ones taken by me or stock photos provided to me. Reviews and sponsored posts are clearly marked as such as I believe in being honest with my readers.

I am not usually paid to write reviews, but would be agreeable to discuss a fee being paid to cover my time if this appropriate. I retain full editorial control over the content of these posts, and reserve the right to remove the post if I feel this is appropriate.

I will only mention competitions or campaigns in my blog post unless I am specifically writing about that subject matter. I am not interested in writing a post just to be entered into a competition.

And please don’t ask me to write a sponsored post without making it know it sponsored, as I will say no.

I have a media pack available about my blog which includes advertising rates, which can be obtained by emailing me.
